I've been working on my latest painting of poppies in fits and starts, more fits than starts though and I am nowhere near finished. I've had a busy few months including another trip to our house in Portugal and some busy and very sociable weekends away so haven't had enough time really to commit to painting. I'm hoping to get my creative mood back soon though and get cracking, particularly as the Mellis festival is imminent - 21st July and the Mellis Arts group will be displaying art work and my studio will be open for the Waveney Springs Art Collective for two weekends in September.
The longest day has been and gone and its been raining on and off all the time; most people refer to the heat wave of 1976 (I was 11 and remember it well). What is forgetten is the hot hot summer of 2003 and the very wet summer of 2007 when there really were only two weeks of sunshine, one early on in the season and one a lot later. I remember the hot 2003 summer because I had just moved into a little terraced house and was busy refurbishing it and the 2007 one because I was fortunate enough to take annual leave that coincided with both the hot weeks! I also remember tomato blight due to the rain and am anticipating more of this with my tomatoes this year.
